The Challenge
The old website posed significant usability issues, making it hard for users—especially low-income individuals, newcomers, and people with disabilities—to find legal information or apply for aid. It lacked clear pathways to essential services, and accessibility barriers made it even more challenging for those in need.
The Solution
The redesigned website was built with a user-first approach, featuring: ✔ Simplified navigation – Clear menus and logical content structure for easy browsing. ✔ Enhanced accessibility – Larger fonts, high-contrast colors, and screen-reader-friendly elements for AODA compliance. ✔ Interactive tools – An eligibility checker and step-by-step guides to streamline the legal aid application process.
The Result
The updated website now provides a frictionless experience, allowing users to quickly find legal resources, apply for aid, and connect with support services. By prioritizing accessibility and user needs, Legal Aid Ontario is now better equipped to serve vulnerable populations effectively.
